Employer: Integrity Training Solutions
Host Employer: RYCO Group
When Jordan Jekic signed up for his Certificate III in IT School Based Traineeship this year, he did not expect to be completing his work placement in his own home. However as 2020 has shown us the need to adapt and to find flexible working arrangements, it is a testament to RYCO Group (Host Employer) and Jordan’s commitment to making the most of this situation.
Working from home is unusual territory for our SBATs, but with use technology and Microsoft Teams, Jordan can still receive quality supervision and work instructions as if they are working in the same office. He is delivered his tasks through a ticketing system, where they provide IT support to clients.
“I communicate with my work supervisor directly through MS Teams or alternatively through mobile. I am working throughout the day on call to colleges working though help desk tickets alongside them and performing tasks they provide as we go through the day.”
Jordan is not only working from home, but Integrity is also providing all “School Based Trainees’ with their training via online classes and workshops, which he said was challenging to adapt to at the start of the year, but as time has gone on has learnt to adapt and embrace the delivery style.
“I’ll be honest it wasn’t what I was expecting and there were a few speed bumps to overcome this year. The start of the year was a great experience, meeting new peers, beginning to work with RYCO Group and making memories. Since then it has been a learning curve having to complete training remotely, and not long ago beginning to work remotely.”
Despite the challenges, Kathy Karlovic (Pathways & Transition Leader) from Wyndham Central College where Jordan attends school, has been full of praise to how both Jordan and Integrity have adapted.
“Integrity went above and beyond their responsibilities by organising Jordan to work from home, which was important, so he is able to gain his work placement hours required for his SBAT. As an RTO the support IBC has provided has been invaluable to ensure Jordan completes his SBAT.”
Although working from home, Jordan thoroughly enjoys his work placement at RYCO Group and hopes to continue his studies to eventually gain a career in the IT industry.
“Although I’ve been working remotely, I enjoy the professional environment. I aim to eventually gain a role in an IT environment to gather more experience, and possibly specialise in a particular department of IT.”
We would like to congratulate Jordan on adapting to both remote learning and working from home protocols. Congratulations Jordan, and good luck for the remainder of the year!
